"It's time for #EQUALITY. Time to EVOLVE. Being topless does NOT equal to nudity. A little bit of history it was illegal for men to go topless back in the 1900's and thousands of men started protesting because they didn't want to wear their one piece suit and it wasn't until 1936 that 4 men from Coney Island fought the law and it was passed. Men were getting arrested and getting $1 fines for going topless and now men have the that right that women are fighting for now. It's not about going topless this is about being treated as equals this is about equality above all. #FREETHENIPPLE"

I recently came across a movie entitled, Free The Nipple which revolves around a group of girls who fight for the decriminalization of female nudity in the US as well as around the globe. It takes place in New York City wherein toplessness is considered legal, yet the police continues to arrest women who partake in this act. Moreover, several countries all over the world consider this act of freedom as "indecent exposure" and have certain fines if you are caught doing so.
Free The Nipple is also an ongoing and real life movement. The main reason as to why this campaign started is because there is the existence of the double standard between men and women. The hypersexualization of the female body has largely contributed to this censorship in the modern world and has resulted into people thinking that a female's anatomy is less "decent" than a man's.
This isn't a movement for all females to go topless 24/7, it's about having a choice to do so without anyone or anything holding them back.
Men can walk around shirtless without anyone making a fuss about it, but when women choose to do the same, it is deemed as a criminal act. "Keep your shirt on because your cold, because you’re shy, because you want to … but don’t keep your shirt on because its against the law!". I think that's one way of looking at how society has lead us to believe that exposing your breasts is immoral rather than natural.
That's the thing though, they are natural. Even breastfeeding in public is frowned upon and I think that it's kind of ridiculous that people find that offensive.
I just wanted to share some thoughts with you.
With love,
